Young Leaders Program

 “Young Leaders Program”
The Purpose of this Program:
In the fight for access to optimal HIV prevention education and HIV healthcare and
wellness, the true power to influence change ultimately lies with those people most
affected by HIV. Now, more than ever, is the time to invest in these communities and
strengthen their capacity to demand, monitor, and work with others to achieve their right
to optimal health and wellness.
As a Black Trans Collective, we want to continue investing, creating awareness and
fostering participation within black urban communities: the energy and informed action
of people living with HIV and the support of allies working together for equity in health.
To this end, UWC is nurturing new leaders through innovative peer programs.
The goal is to help young leaders:
• Gain the technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to be part of the next
generation of activists fighting for better health.
• Build connections and relationships with stakeholders, gatekeepers and
influencers across local and nationally to bring about change.
• Create dialogue and intersectionality of social justice through organic peer-to-
peer learning exchanges.
